Xiaomi moves 600,000 Redmi Note 6 Pro units in first India sale

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India a couple of days ago, and the device has so far been a resounding success in the subcontinent.

In its first sale in the country, the company managed to move more than 600,000 units. That’s pretty impressive, and Xiaomi expects to sell even more in upcoming sales.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro is the new king of the Redmi series, which focuses on pairing good specs with very affordable prices. It starts at just INR 13,999 ($198 or €175), while packing a 6.25-inch 1080×2280 notched touchscreen, the Snapdragon 636 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a 12 MP main rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and 1.4µm pixels, a 20 MP main selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture, and a couple of depth sensors for bokeh – one on the back, one on the front.

It has a 4,000 mAh battery and runs Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 on top.

Redmi Note 5 Pro has gone on sale in India today, via Flipkart and Mi.com. While Friday is a weekly flash sales day for Chinese electronics firm Xiaomi, which also holds its Mi TV 4 and Mi TV 4A flash sales on the day. Thanks to the Flipkart Big Freedom Sale, all three are available to buy without flash sales. At the time of writing, the 6GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 5 Pro had gone out of stock on both Flipkart and Mi.com. The very popular Redmi 5A will also be made available for what XIaomi calls “pre-orders” on Mi.com at 12pm IST. Xiaomi as part of its own Independence Day Sale has put the Mi TV 4 and Mi TV 4A models on sale on Mi.com, however, they are yet to be made available on Flipkart at the time of writing.

While the Redmi Note 5 Pro’s popularity in India was seen recently with its second rank in Q2 India smartphone shipments report, it is set to be upstaged by the Xiaomi Mi A2. The second generation in Xiaomi’s Android One family, the Mi A2 was launched in India just yesterday. Priced at Rs. 16,999 for its 4GB/ 64GB model, it takes on the top model (6GB/ 64GB) of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which shares the same Rs. 16,999 price tag. However, the Redmi Note 5 Pro sports inferior Snapdragon 636 compared to the Snapdragon 660 on the Mi A2.The  Redmi Note 5 Pro price in India starts at Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage mode and it was launched back in February this year. It will be available in Black, Blue, Gold, and Rose Gold colour variants. On Mi.com, the company is touting a Rs. 2,200 cashback with up to 4.5TB additional data on Jio, as well as a 3-month subscription to Hungama Music.

On the other hand, the Redmi 5A was launched in November last year. As we mentioned, the budget smartphone will go up for pre-orders on Mi.com from 12pm IST. The Redmi 5A price in India starts at Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage variant, and goes up to Rs. 6,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant. It will be available in Blue, Dark Grey, Gold, and Rose Gold colour variants. Xiaomi is offering a Rs. 2,200 cashback with Jio Rs. 198 and Rs. 299 plans, apart from a 3-month subscription to Hungama Music. These pre-orders are said meant to be a way to avoid the hassle of flash sale, and instead book the smartphone with full payment at the time of ordering – the company then assures a delivery time of 5 business days.

Xiaomi has put its Mi TV 4 and Mi TV 4A series of televisions up for sale today as well, via both Flipkart and Mi.com. Starting with the cheapest, the 32-inch Mi LED Smart TV 4A price in India is Rs. 13,999, and on Mi.com the company is offering free 3-month subscriptions to Hungama Play and Sony LIV on Mi.com, apart from a JioFi cashback offer. The 43-inch Mi LED Smart TV 4A price in India is Rs. 22,999, and it comes with the same offer on Mi.com, while the 55-inch Mi LED Smart TV 4 price in India is set at Rs. 44,999, but forgoes the JioFi cashback offer seen with the other two TVs. At the time of writing, the 55-inch Mi TV 4 was sold out on Flipkart.

Flipkart Grand Gadget Days Sale Offers Deals on Mobiles, Tablets, Laptops, Smartwatches, and More

Flipkart has returned with its Grand Gadget Days sale, and is offering a plethora of deals on mobiles, laptops, tablets, gaming hardware, and audio accessories. Additionally, there are offers on personal grooming gadgets as well. However, the e-commerce website has not revealed the duration of the sale.

Under the Grand Gadgets Sale, Flipkart is offering a Rs. 1,000 discount on the Lenovo Phab 2, while the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro now comes for Rs. 22,999 (down from Rs. 30,000). That’s it for mobiles in this sale.

For laptops, the Flipkart Grand Gadgets Sale is offering up to Rs. 4,000 discount on its best-selling laptops. The website has listed laptops with Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors with prices starting at Rs. 36,990 and Rs. 49,990 respectively. Laptops with Celeron processors are also a part of the sale, and prices begin from Rs. 13,990. Additionally, there are “Home Use” laptops listed in the Flipkart sale, starting at Rs. 11,990 and budget laptops from Dell at Rs. 17,990 and Lenovo from Rs. 18,990. Also part of the offer are “all in one” desktops from brands like Lenovo, HP, and Apple.

Gaming laptops are also a part of the sale, as Flipkart is offering up to Rs. 12,000 of on exchange on laptops like Acer Predator Helios, MSI GL Series, Acer Nitro 5 Spin, and more.

When it comes to tablets, the devices from brands like Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, Micromax, iBall, and more have massive discounts and offers. The price of the new Apple iPad models start at Rs. 24,900. There is a no-cost EMI option available on the iPad models as well. Meanwhile, Flipkart is offering up to 25 percent discount on the new Lenovo Tab 4 series. Additionally, there is a Rs. 10,500 discount of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3.

In terms of cameras, price of the Canon DSLRs start from Rs. 22,990. The Nikon D750 is available at Rs. 1,14,000 and the Nikon D3400 camera dual lens kit is priced at Rs. 35,990. Also available is the GoPro Hero 6 Sports and Action Camera priced at Rs. 31,000.

Audio accessories like headphones and speakers have also been listed. Similarly there are deals on smartwatches and fitness bands as well, including bands like Apple, Noise, Xiaomi, and more. Other deals include computer peripherals, gaming hardware, and other accessories.
