Nokia Taiwan even bundles a clear case with the phone and also offer the official flip case at a discounted price of NT$ 22 ($0.71). So far it looks like the only available color is Steel. Move over Huawei, the Samsung Galaxy A8s is coming on December 10

Mere hours after Huawei announced that it will unveil the nova 4 with a selfie camera inside the display on December 17, Samsung announced it will show off the Galaxy A8s a full week earlier – on December 10.

The move is by no means coincidental – a fight to bring out the first phone with a screen hole has been on since late November. At this point it looks like Samsung will indeed beat Huawei to the punch, but things could change.

The screens on both the nova 4 and the Galaxy A8s are LCDs made by BOE, but it’s said that Samsung’s phone is the the more premium of the two.

Specs-wise the Samsung Galaxy A8s is expected to have a 6.3-inch 2340×1080 19.5:9 LCD, a Snapdragon 710 chipset with up to 6GB of RAM, a 24MP selfie camera embedded into the display and a triple camera on the back – likely a regular and an ultra-wide accompanied by a depth sensing third snapper.

YouTube Names Handsets Offering ‘Best Experience’, Shows Samsung Galaxy Note 9 on Top With No iPhone on List

YouTube Names Handsets Offering 'Best Experience', Shows Samsung Galaxy Note 9 on Top With No iPhone on List

The list of YouTube Signature Devices includes as many as 18 Android smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 not just has top-notch specifications but is also touted to be a “YouTube Signature Device” for 2019. Samsung at the Galaxy Note 9 event in New York revealed the latest achievement. Following the formal announcement made on stage in Brooklyn, New York, a YouTube Device Report emerged that highlights the Galaxy Note 9 as well as some other premium smartphones as “Signature Devices” that are claimed to deliver the “best-in-class YouTube experience”. Interestingly, while the report includes models such as the Google Pixel 2 XL, HTC U12+, and OnePlus 6- alongside the Galaxy Note 9 as the leader, it doesn’t mention any iPhone model – not even the top-end iPhone X.

YouTube in the Device Report states that to qualify as a Signature Device, the handset must support high dynamic range (HDR), 360-degree video playback, high frame rate (greater than 60 frames per second), reliable DRM performance, 4K decoding, and use next-generation video codecs along with hardware VP9 profile 2 decoding. “We’ve worked with manufacturers to verify these devices meet or exceed our performance expectations,” the team writes in the report.

The list of YouTube Signature Devices includes as many as 18 Android smartphones. There are models such as the Galaxy Note 9, Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, HTC U12+, OnePlus 6, LG G7 ThinQ, Xiaomi Mi 8, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Google Pixel 2 XL, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and LG V30.

However, there isn’t any iPhone model, as noted by The Verge. The prime reason behind the absence of the Apple iPhone models in the list of YouTube Signature Devices is the lack of VP9 video codec support that has been developed by Google to enable a high-quality video playback experience. The lack of VP9 support notably prevents Safari users from watching YouTube videos in 4K.

It is unclear whether the 2018 iPhone models will come with necessary hardware and software support to reach the list of YouTube Signature Devices in the future. This also isn’t likely to be a major factor to influence customers. Having said that, companies such as Samsung are likely to use the latest development to market their offerings including the newly launched Galaxy Note 9.

Twitter CEO to Testify Before US House Panel on September 5

Twitter CEO to Testify Before US House Panel on September 5

Twitter’s chief executive will testify before a US House of Representatives committee on September 5, the panel said on Friday, after some Republicans raised concerns about social media companies removing content from conservatives.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee “intends to ask tough questions about how Twitter monitors and polices content,” Republican Representative Greg Walden, the panel’s chairman, said in a statement.

“We look forward to Mr Dorsey being forthright and transparent regarding the complex processes behind the company’s algorithms and content judgment calls,” Walden said.

On Friday, President Donald Trump accused social media companies of silencing “millions of people” in an act of censorship, but without offering evidence to support the claim.

“Social Media Giants are silencing millions of people. Can’t do this even if it means we must continue to hear Fake News like CNN, whose ratings have suffered gravely. People have to figure out what is real, and what is not, without censorship!” Trump wrote on Twitter, not mentioning any specific companies.

Trump also criticized social media outlets last week, saying without providing proof that unidentified companies were “totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices.”

Those tweets followed actions taken by Apple, Facebook, and Alphabet’s YouTube to remove some content posted by Infowars, a website run by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

Jones’ Twitter account was temporarily suspended on Aug. 15.

World War Z game: Release Date News for PS4, Xbox, PC game based on zombie book and film

World War Z game: Release Date News for PS4, Xbox, PC game based on zombie book and film

World War Z game: Release Date News for PS4, Xbox, PC game based on zombie book and film
DS
In the latest gameplay trailer, Saber showed how World War Z will harness the power of Saber’s Swarm Engine. This trailer shows off exactly how different the undead from World War Z will be from other zombie characters.

The mesmerising footage shows how hundreds of fast-infecting zombies will flood the screen at a time in an attempt to overwhelm you.

The trailer also showed off dynamic swarm simulation, adaptive spawn control, diverse zombie mechanics and the advanced gore system.

Saber Interactive, the developer of World War Z, announced it would be making a game based on Paramount’s blockbuster film franchise.

You may recognise Saber Interactive as the team behind Quake Champions and TimeShift.

The game will feature a four-player cooperative mode where the players will be swarmed by zombies.

Players will be completing missions and stories across the world, in locations including New York, Moscow and Jerusalem.

You will need to fight to stay alive and escape zombie hordes using traps, barriers and the environment as weapons.

World War Z will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch explained: “World War Z is a name synonymous with heart-pounding fear and action, and we’re excited to finally capture that energy in a fast-paced and gruesome experience crafted specifically for modern consoles and PC.”

The game is based on the 2013 zombie apocalypse game.

Big Bertini, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Licensing for Paramount Pictures said: “Saber has tons of experience working on high-quality games and they’ve done a great job capturing the massive, frantic hordes of ‘zekes’ that sets our franchise apart.

“They have created a fiercely original experience in the rich universe of World War Z that fans are sure to love.”

The release of World War Z is expected to arrive at some stage in 2019.

The exact date is not yet known. But given that we’re so close to the end of the year with little information we would assume it will be coming ‘late’ 2019.

Saber Interactive has said it will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

EU Agrees on Data Deal With Japan

EU Agrees on Data Deal With Japan

The European Union reached a deal on Tuesday allowing businesses to seamlessly transfer personal data between the bloc and Japan, deepening economic links as the two sides also agree a free-trade pact.

The EU and Japan concluded several years of data talks in Tokyo in the margins of a bilateral summit and the deal should come into effect towards the end of this year, once the European Commission and the Japanese government have finalised details.

“Data is the fuel of global economy and this agreement will allow for data to travel safely between us to the benefit of both our citizens and our economies,” EU Justice Commissioner Vera Jourova said in a statement.

“By working together, we can shape the global standards for data protection and show common leadership in this important area,” she said.

The Commission said the decision would mean that personal data could flow from the European Economic Area to Japan, without needing any further safeguards or authorisations.

Cross-border data flows are key to most businesses. These can include moving employee information around, credit card details to complete online transactions, and people’s browsing habits to serve them targeted ads.

However, strict EU data protection rules forbid companies from storing Europeans’ information on servers in countries deemed to have an inadequate level of privacy – only 12 meet the standard – meaning firms have to rely on other more complex legal contracts.

A similar data transfer pact with the United States which underpinned billions of dollars of transatlantic trade was struck down in 2015 by the EU’s top court on the grounds it did not sufficiently protect Europeans’ data from US snooping, throwing the business world into legal limbo.

A new one has since been negotiated and has been in place for over a year.

The EU and Japan last year concluded the world’s largest free-trade agreement, which will make up about 30 percent of global output, and are expected to formally sign it later on Tuesday in Tokyo.
